What's StarRater?
StarRater is a free Java applet that you can use to capture user ratings and give personalized recommendations to visitors at your web site.In addition, StarRater provides several automatic functions such as Recommended and Most Popular item lists.
What do I do with StarRater?
You provide users with recommendations and personalized content automatically. For sites that deal in items like music, video games, artists, software, shareware, movies, books, restaurants or anything else that's a matter of taste, StarRater will recommend new items to the user based on the specific user's ratings and those of all other 'like-minded' individuals. Here are a few examples of uses:Where's the data go?
All data collected is stored and processed on central Gustos servers. The data is solely used for the benefit of users for the purpose making personal recommendations. Individual user data is completely private and will never be disclosed to anyone.
Why is it free?
We think all sites large and small should be able to use powerful new technology without respect to their capacity to pay. Gustos also places advertising banner pages on all recommendation pages generated by StarRater that pay for the public service.
